Richard Rocheleau has over 40 years of experience in renewable energy, spanning photovoltaics, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, ocean energy systems, and grid integration.
Since 2000, he has served as Director of the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI), an Organized Research Unit of the University of Hawai‘i. His current work focuses on identifying cost-effective pathways to achieve Hawaii’s 100% Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) goals, developing and demonstrating advanced grid architectures to enable alternative energy use, and building international partnerships across the Asia–Pacific region.
